Three Weddings and a Hanging

This is the unofficial story of what has happened as told by the imperfect narrators of a few PCs with too much time and too little documentation.

Friday many creatures were making their way into town attacking at relative random. Seemed like the Morai couldn't directly influence because of ritualistic protections so they were taking a more scattershot approach. We killed a lot of monsters that night. We also saved a section of town from Vixenere. That was fun.

Friday evening the Draugr arrived for the wedding of Councilwoman Katla and Queen Cogent (formerly Contessa) Yvenna. It was a beautiful ceremony. Afterwards the Queen Cogent stuck around to play games in exchange for life or death favors. It was an excellent way to pass the time. Wedding/Hanging Count: 1 / 0

Shava's brother Farron arrived to assist with efforts to restore Shava's memory. Farron was super protective to an unreasonable degree but that's just the start of the weirdness. One nifty ritual later we find out that Shava is actually nobility and has been targeted for assassination for years. Assassins use a mental link to track her so Farron took Shava's memories. Also, Farron is not her brother but actually is an assassin as well who decided to become less bad and save the target by mind wiping the target. If you see Shava please don't call her Princess Shivyshava. Apparently she doesn't want that to get around.

Saturday morning a Sweekin from Bastion named Bizbin showed up with a Supplicant named Izekeke. Apparently there was some disagreement between them on the formality of their relationship so a wedding of minimal fuss and intense cuteness ensued. Also Fskali portals to demon controlled webs got discussed since this is Izekeke's favorite subject. Wedding/Hanging Count: 2 / 0

Midday brought Councilman Briar Valeheart and an amazing amount of drama. So long story short she needed to get married, produce an heir, and move to Hella. She didn't wanna do that so the Stonecropt Sentinels took it upon themselves to assist. Little while later she was pregnant with twins thanks to a miracle from Alexandria, married to Outrider Chef Vordivask, and ordered by Prince Caldur to remain as one of the seven representatives in Stonecropt. After the very rapid wedding ceremony Briar's previous fiance sent in people to fetch her. After they regained consciousness from a strong right hook they ran home with tails tucked firmly between legs. Wedding/Hanging Count: 3 / 0

Saturday afternoon we found the cause of issues with the merrows. Nykor water horses and an Undying Fey were trying to kill the merrows and the Dryad. Sentinels split into three teams, empowered the weakened Dryad, freed the merrows, and killed the Undying (as much as they can be killed anyway).

As sundown approached the children of Queen Astrid arrived to chat. We learned that Queen Astrid had died in her sleep, Gunhilde had risen to become Queen, and she would give no quarter to threats. As soon as the announcement was made and everyone assembled she called out Godfrey for his treason. Godfrey calls Umbridge, Odo steps up as champion, and the duel ensues. Godfrey got his butt handed to him, but not before showering the entire area in purple Morai dust. As he was dying on the ground he was calling on them for aid. Frantic attempts to counter his actions allowed up to keep protections for the children of Stonecropt but the Moray could now enter. Another duel was done with similar results. Godfrey finally confesses that he was saving Hella from Caldur's children who were never true Hellans. A few minutes after that he was hung from the neck until dead. Wedding/Hanging Count: 3 / 1

As evening settled the Morai approached. Draugr from Axis tied up their mercenaries, Lakozik got distracted, and Sentinels took a dive into Chatoyent's mind. It was an interesting experience hearing three versions of the same person arguing. A few knots unraveled and we removed Lakozik's control over Chatoyent, purged almost all trace of the Onyx, and made a person roughly 55/45 Hellen / Wild with some excellent personality traits. This might make Sentinels as bad as the Necromancer but at least we did our best.

With three of his favorite toys taken away Lakozik was far more helpful than anticipated. We gathered forces and fought three witches on the field of battle. Although "fight" is a strong word given that we spent most of the time spun up by fate confused as to who was friend or foe. That's the Morai for you. Regardless we worked with Lakozik and the dragon Argon to successfully unmake the witches and save Stonecropt from the child stealing witches of Reykjavik.

The night did not end cleanly though. 400 kroner was spent over the course of two days, but that cost was nothing compared to the loss in life. During Midsummer 2618 a curse was set on Gunny and Gulbrandr for stealing dragon bones. To correct this, they were tasked with accepting a choice that was anything but a choice. Three favors or three deaths. Gunny took favors. Gulbrandr took deaths and in the end death took Gulbrandr at Gunny's hand. We are all poorer with his passing. May he rest well, and may the raging waters of his mind be still at last.

Midsummer 2618

This is the unofficial story of what has happened as told by the imperfect narrators of a few PCs with too much time and too little documentation.

The Stonecropt Sentinels on Friday night had a run in with Lakozik. He arrived to demand that we use a mask to destroy (red flower) Chatoyent. Actually he demanded that her best friend Elanor do it. She declined. Then he demanded that we do it. We argued a lot and then declined. We get one of those each year and this one has been spent.

After that Lakozik demanded that an unnamed band sworn to serve go to an unnamed area and pollute the water supply. Stonecropt Sentinels, realizing that this unnamed band was honor bound to accomplish the task, went ahead to warn the citizens of the impending attack and saved countless innocent lives from the Necromancer's influence.

Late in the evening we found a well with a singing occupant. After careful exploration we found a ghost of a girl who was kidnapped with some degree of expertise and thrown into this well. We anticipate future problems both with professional Hellan kidnappers and with a well full of trapped souls.

Saturday morning we made progress on the list of Fatesmithed stolen equipment, therefore the Fatesmith has not been executed... yet.

Saturday afternoon was a massive endeavor that took heavy tolls on us all but the description of events is relatively easily delivered. We went to the outskirts of Axis territory where it is safe from Incenera and assisted The Contessa and her love Councilwoman Katla in winning a civil war to conquer Axis. One of the Cogents had decided to weaponize Incenera against the entire region. We were instrumental in the battle to defeat him so Stonecropt Sentinels are now officially saviors of Holurheim. However no one else seems to see it that way so just be patient for the parade. Someday our day will come.

It's also worth noting that Councilman Briar Valeheart has been tasked with getting married by her family. This is problematic. Also Councilwoman Katla has been asked by the Contessa to marry. This is problematic for Hellan sensibilities but overall wonderful news.

Late Spring 2618

This is the unofficial story of what has happened as told by the imperfect narrators of a few PCs with too much time and too little documentation.

The Stonecropt Sentinels traveled to Graffark to assist in guarding and transporting Prince Caldur, Lady Frikka, and the baby Princess Bridgid back to Stonecropt. While in Graffark we enjoyed the hospitality of the Jarl, his wife, and many of their people. There were minor scuffles with wildlife, including a type of water horse called a Nykur that had pulled several victims into the river including children. All that were found were saved and rumor has it the Nykur can command victims to enter the water on their own power but fear the sound of their own name.

The trip to Stonecropt was treacherous and lethal. Chief among the challenges was getting the ship unstuck in a coordinated fashion while fending off foes. A night jelly, massive in scope even as a baby, was seen and all efforts made to avoid angering it. Those efforts failed. One of the ships accompanying our vessel was sunk in transit. This happened near a beach that belonged to the Vixeneer. While engineers, gathers, and rescuers worked to make life boats and save lives from the sunk ship, others fought the onslaught. Thanks to the significant efforts of all involved, no soul was lost.

During the daylight hours back in Stonecropt we continued our normal affairs of removing monsters and solving problems. A theft was resolved with little fanfare and best left forgotten. Scoffin were skinned by the gross. We delved into an ancient concrete structure called a "parking garage" to extract significant amounts of resources and encountered a peaceful dangerous creature called an alloygator eating rebar.

Siggy arrived with prophecy. At the Hellen Ball to celebrate the baby Princess Bridgid's place as heir to Crown Princess Gunhilde there would be intrigue. Three nobles were targeted by the Morai witches from Reykjavik. These three were pillars that supported the Royal Hellis family. Three more nobles were betrayers who had willingly chosen to assassinate their associates. We would know them by what they said and by their marks for both target and betrayer would have seals upon them. In addition we learned that the three Chatoyents, all of whom serve Lakozik, can be saved from their current position. Lakozik has and will continue to kill them and remake them when they learn too much. They can be restored and given enough free will to make a deal and remain intact. To accomplish this we will need the consent of all three, the red flowered lace from our closest one, the armor from the Hellen Knight, and the mask from the Onyx Fey. This must be accomplished by August if it is to succeed. This entire quest is for Chatoyent's benefit and serves no higher purpose than to ensure that someone who has lost free will can have it restored.

As the sun sank beneath the horizon we sank beneath the waves. The challenge was significant, the cost was high, and victory was achieved. The Sentinels now have a 100 meter ship from the final days before the apocalypse. It requires a great deal of work to be converted to modern technology.

Travel was made to Hella to attend the ball. Many did their best to clean up and look presentable. The ball itself was a complex network of social challenges that explained quite neatly why Prince Caldur and Lady Frikka enjoy their time in Stonecropt. After a lengthy investigation we found that Lady Arvarish, Lord Valeheart, and King Turgeis Hellis were the three targets. Darling Sko'zhra betrayed the king for reasons not yet known. Marvin Anista is next in line for House Anista but is in love with Raumr Valeheart so the two men conspired to kill the Lady Arvrish and the Lord Valeheart.

Once all were saved and brought to justice the Sentinels took to the catacombs to seal the doorway opened by Prince Godfried. There are monsters beneath the streets of Hella and we fought many of them. Creatures made mostly flesh that fight what comes through, and even something monstrous that lurks deeper still and hunts by sound. Thankfully the seal was resealed and access for the Morai was blocked.

End of Summer 2617

This is the unofficial story of what has happened as told by the imperfect narrators of a few PCs with too much time and too little documentation.

Friday night all the royal children of Hella were in attendance. Crown Princess Gunhilde, Prince Odo, Prince Caldur, and the young Prince Godfrey. During this time Princess Gunhilde formally declared Prince Caldur's infant daughter Lady Brigid to be her royal heir and next in line for the throne behind her. This removed any concern that having Crown Princess Gunhilde as Queen would cause problems with succession in the future since she is not married and had no heir of her own, as well as showing that Prince Caldur supports his sister and does not seek the throne himself. During this time apparently Prince Godfrey was marking some in Stonecropt for nefarious purposes.

Saturday early day a ritual was performed to keep the influence of the Morai at bay within Stonecropt. This replaced a seal that was made long ago and recently broken. It's original intent was purpose was to protect the children in particular since the Morai are known to take children that their visions tell them will be of value.

Also, the noble responsible for arranging Councilman Valeheart's assassination attempt was apprehended thanks to the tireless efforts of a Stonecropt Sentinal named Zack.

Later, favor was called in with the merrows near Stonecropt. They used their song to call the Stonecropt Sentinels to face Prince Odo's army near the river. Odo's forces had to travel unerringly towards the river through rawheads and other monsters so by the time they reached the river their forces were significantly diminished. They refused to submit, laid claim to the land for Prince Odo, and were soundly defeated. Prisoners were taken, interrogated, and thrown to the merrows. This marked the final desperate ploy from Prince Odo to take Stonecropt by force and demonstrate his superiority for the throne. It is believed that his ambitions have come to an end.

The execution of Hellan prisoners without the permission of the Council was criminal. Therefore a leader within the Stonecropt Sentinels named Telvin took responsibility and was executed by his friend Councilman Briar Valeheart. This was generally seen as unfortunate but necessary by most in attendance. Afterwards Zack, another leader within the Stonecropt Sentinels, was granted title as an official Outrider for Stonecropt; This was generally viewed as a good thing and there was a lot of cheering.

Saturday evening we learned that the Draugr have begun a civil war within their home of Axis. Our ally in this conflict is the Contessa, once a noble daughter of House Anista and childhood friend to many of the Council in Stonecropt. She is now a powerful Cogent and lover to Councilwoman Katla. We cannot enter the conflict directly because of the insenera that makes any who cross the rivers become Draugr. Therefore we are devising arms that can be used by the sensates and the ferals that serve the Contessa.

Saturday evening many terrible things came to take Siggy. The necromancer Lakozik, commonly believed by Hellans to be a myth, believes that her presence is a threat and intended to take her or drive her away for our own good. The Morai were also determined to be on the way. An alliance was struct between Stonecropt Sentinels and Lakozik. When the Morai arrived it got bad fast. They used magic to disable people outside of the protection circle from the ritual earlier in the day and took complete control over those who were marked by Godfrey the previous night. Godfrey was apparently working with the Morai to make his own bid for the throne. By the end of the fight, the Morai were driven back and Lakozik had raised three of our fallen to be under his command. He released them in exchange for a favor. Service of a sort that would last until Chef's final end.
